Her mother expressed excitement, saying it was her hope from the beginning, and her father was open to James helping with their banana chip business.

The couple disclosed their plan to pay off a $15,000 car debt, and James suggested that Meitalia’s parents help him by compensating him for his work selling banana chips in their family business. James explained that the money would help him cover his $700 monthly car payments back in the United States.
While Meitalia’s father agreed to help pay off the debt, he made it clear that James must not accumulate any more debt.
